Dosage Form: Intramammary Ointment
Composition:
Each 8-gram syringe contains:
- 350 mg Cephalexin (monohydrate)
- 35 mg Gentamicin (sulfate)
Pharmacological Properties:
Mastitis is one of the most common issues in dairy farms, caused by inflammation of the mammary glands due to bacterial infections.
Cephalexin is effective against Gram-positive bacteria and is resistant to beta-lactamase enzymes. Gentamicin, an aminoglycoside, is effective against some Gram-positive cocci and a wide range of Gram-negative bacilli.
Target Species: Cattle (Cows)
Indications:
For the treatment of various forms of mastitis during lactation caused by:
- Streptococcus
- Staphylococcus
- Escherichia coli
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Klebsiella pneumoniae
- Candida
(Excludes tuberculosis infections.)
Dosage and Administration:
Inject one syringe (8 g) into the affected quarter every 12 to 24 hours.
The treatment duration is determined by a veterinarian.
Method of Administration:
Intramammary.
Before treatment, completely milk out the udder, clean and disinfect the teat with an antiseptic, and ensure it is thoroughly dried.
Contraindications: None
Overdose:
Overdose is unlikely. However, if it occurs, it may cause respiratory distress. In such cases, intravenous administration of calcium salts is recommended.
Side Effects:
In rare cases, local redness may occur.
In cases of renal failure or prolonged use, consider risks of nephrosis and ototoxicity.
Withdrawal Period:
Milk: 4 days (8 milkings)

Keep away from moisture, heat, and direct light.
