Composition:

Each 8 g syringe contains:

• • Ceftiofur (Hydrochloride) – 125 mg

Mechanism of Action:

Ceftiofur is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Its mechanism of action is bactericidal, similar to that of penicillins. Cephalosporins bind to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the cytoplasmic membrane of bacteria. By interfering with transpeptidase activity and other cell wall-synthesizing enzymes, they inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to impaired bacterial growth and division. This results in cell lysis and death of susceptible organisms.

Indications:

Used for the treatment of clinical mastitis in lactating dairy cows caused by:

• • Staphylococcus spp.
  • Streptococcus spp.
  • Escherichia coli (E. coli)

Dosage and Administration:

• • Administer two doses 24 hours apart (can be repeated for up to 8 consecutive days if required).
  • Clean the teat thoroughly using warm water and a suitable disinfectant.
  • Dry completely.
  • Strip milk completely from the affected quarter.
  • Inject one 8 g syringe of ointment into the teat canal.
  • After infusion, gently massage the teat to ensure even distribution of the suspension
