فوک خزری؛ 62 لاشه در سواحل گیلان و مازندران

62 carcasses of the Caspian seal were found on the coasts of Gilan (34) and Mazandaran (28) from the start of the year to July. The carcasses may have drifted in from elsewhere, making precise causes hard to determine. Threats cited include food shortages (especially of kelp), pollution, hunting and trapping, viral and parasitic diseases, and climate change. The Environment Protection Authority has drafted a national action plan, established a dedicated Centre for the Caspian seal, expanded rescue facilities in northern provinces, and launched monitoring, education and rapid‑response teams. It also submitted a draft regional protection plan to the Tehran Convention for cooperation with other Caspian littoral countries.
