Alborz province (517 000 ha, ~0.3 % of Iran) contains diverse ecosystems from high peaks to wetlands. 155 000 ha (30 %) are protected, including Alborz Central, Karaj River, Taalqan and Salihieh. The area hosts 305 bird, 46 mammal, 43 reptile, 3 amphibian and 7 aquatic species, making it a major genetic reservoir. Threats are urban expansion, road construction, illegal wildlife trade, road accidents and disease spread. The provincial environmental agency assessed 220 development projects, enforced 5 illegal wildlife centers, and released 145 rehabilitated animals (14 species). Director Mohammadpour announced the release and highlighted collaboration with a veterinary hospital. Training reached 100 staff and judiciary. The Natural History Museum of Alborz added QR‑coded specimens; it attracted 300 onsite and 500 online visitors. Transfer permits (5 domestic, 2 international) and 7 grazing permits were issued to balance conservation and local livelihoods. No outbreaks of avian influenza or plague were reported.
